DASLS ‘Solicitor of the Year’ and specialist dog bite compensation solicitor, James McNally, has won yet another dog bite claim, recovering compensation for a man who was attacked by two Rottweilers.
His client, John Carter, experienced a harrowing dog attack while working on a renovation project at The Three Travellers public house. John was attacked by two Rottweilers owned by the defendant. This unprovoked attack resulted in significant physical injuries and severe psychological trauma.
John was hired by the defendant to carry out renovation work at the pub. Upon arrival, the defendant took John and his colleague to the back yard to inspect a fridge being installed. The defendant assured John that the Rottweiler present was friendly. However, the dog tried to bite John, who managed to fend it off. Despite the defendant’s reassurance that the dog was just playing and would be kept locked away, John was attacked again later in the day, this time by two Rottweilers. John tried to escape but sustained a bite to his leg and injured his back in the process. He sought immediate treatment at the A&E.
John was left with an obvious scar on his thigh and experienced back pain from trying to escape the attack. The physical injuries were significant, but the psychological impact was even more profound. He developed acute stress symptoms, sleep disturbances, elevated anxiety, and a specific fear of dogs.
Specialist dog bite compensation solicitor James McNally took on John’s case working on a No Win, No Fee basis. The claim against the defendants was based on their negligence in failing to control their dogs and adequately warn John of the potential danger.
The case was supported by detailed medical evaluations. A consultant plastic surgeon documented the extent of John’s physical injuries and the permanent nature of his scarring. An orthopaedic surgeon provided insights into his back injury, and a clinical psychologist assessed his psychological trauma.
After a period of negotiation, a compensation settlement of £19,500 was reached. The defendants also agreed to pay the legal costs.
Thanks to the expertise of dog bite compensation solicitor James McNally, a favourable resolution was achieved. This outcome exemplifies Slee Blackwell Solicitors’ dedication to achieving justice and appropriate compensation for clients impacted by dog attacks.
