We have won compensation for a boy who was bitten by a dog in the street after his previous solicitors said he didn’t have a claim.
A seven-year-old boy, who for confidentiality reasons we will refer to as L, was playing with his friend in the street. His friend decided to put his water pistol back in his house, but as he opened the front door the family dog escaped and ran into the road. The dog attacked L, biting his arm and leg. His injuries were so severe that he had to undergo surgery the same day.
The dog’s owners took the decision to have the dog destroyed following the attack, but their insurance company denied legal liability for what happened on the basis that the dog had not acted in this way before.
L’s mother instructed one of the biggest firms of solicitors in the country to deal with the claim, but when liability was denied they dropped the claim.
L’s mother was reluctant to let the matter go, especially as her son’s injuries were so bad. She therefore looked around for lawyers who were dog bite specialists and decided to contact our free legal helpline.
